The former Slave Lodge, one of the city's oldest buidings, has served as government offices and the Supreme Court. Now the SA Cultural History Museum, it has displays on slavery and antiquities.

Disappointing collection. Perhaps we were wrongly lead to believe it was about slavery but only 20% of the museum's dedicated to it.

Built in 1663, burnt down and rebuilt in1679, this building housed as many as 1000 'inmates' - about 600 slaves, as well as convicts, political prisoners and 'lunatics' in the 17th/18th centuries.
